Hello and welcome to your weekly dose of Pinterest marketing education. The goal is to help you to get better at Pinterest so your business can grow. Let's dive in.

Pinterest Marketing Stuff You Should Know

πŸ“Œ Pinterest stats you need to know if you're going to use the platform for marketing.

πŸ“Œ When to expect Pinterest's final Q4 2023 results.

πŸ“Œ Calls to action are about your user, not you.

Pinterest stats you need to know

Finally, we have some solid statistics coming out on Pinterest. This article by The Marketing Hustle is ROBUST! It's an 18-minute read and will give you a good update on where Pinterest stands stat-wise. Here are a few takeaways:

  • The average Pinner spends 27 minutes per session on the platform.
  • Pinterest users have higher average incomes than users of other social media platforms.
  • The number of business accounts on Pinterest is growing rapidly, with an estimated 20% year-over-year growth rate. <-- This is super helpful information as we haven't had any specific data coming from Pinterest or any other sources about an average growth rate
  • The average click-through rate (CTR) for Pinterest ads is 2.4%. This is higher than the average CTR for other social media platforms, such as Facebook (1.7%) and Twitter (0.9%). Boom!!

I have read through this article a few times and I've had some great ah-ha's. Essential reading.

Here's one more deep-dive statistics article if you simply cannot get enough.

Q4 2023 Financial updates coming soon!

I'll admit, I geek out a little bit when these quarterly reports come out. We learn so much about the health of the platform we're using to market our businesses. I want to see the platform grow and lead their team in a good direction, especially financially.

Pinterest will release its financial results for the full year + Q4 of 2023 on Feb. 8, 2024, after market close.

My prediction is that Pinterest is close to 500 million monthly users but not there yet. I'd put a few dollars on that bet. :)

Best Calls to Action

Over the years we've told our community to let their audience know they are on Pinterest. There are a lot of different ways you can do this but here's one really important thing you need to remember --> It's about them not you! Here are a few good examples and a few bad examples.

Good Examples (link to the boards should be included)

βœ… "I created a Pinterest board with all of my favorite sourdough methods. Check it out and save a few for later when you're up for experimenting."

βœ… "Spring fashion is coming and I couldn't be more excited. I've curated a Pinterest board with all of my favorite looks for spring 2024. Make sure you check it out."

Bad Examples

❌ "I have a Pinterest account, you should follow me"

❌ "My Pinterest boards look different, go check them out"

See the difference? One is about a specific call to action that serves the user the other is about you. No one cares that your Pinterest boards look different.

Chances are they never saw them anyway. They care about what you're creating for them and the value it brings to their life.

This Week's Simple Pin Podcast

Pinterest for Dummies.

I've always wanted to write the book but the editors said they weren't interested. There is however one from 2012 which you should NOT buy given that it was written 12 years ago. Might be a little outdated.

I've recorded a smaller version on the podcast today. If you've had business friends who wonder how Pinterest works this could be a great start.

January 3, 2024 Hi...this will take you about 6.6 minutes to read but it took me about 7 hours to write. 10 years ago this week, I bought a domain on GoDaddy. I spent hours planning three packages to serve potential clients. I hoped it would work but deep down I thought it would fail. I leaned into a new title, β€œentrepreneur” while holding onto the rope of fear. How could I be an entrepreneur? I was a mom with 3 little kids, a degree in political science, and mad skills using coupons. The...
